Vintage Thingies Thursday

Happy VTT, sponsored by my friend Suzanne.

Today, I'm showing off my vintage Pyrex and mixer. I can remember lusting over the nesting bowls that seemed to be in all the antique stores. My Mom had the green bowl when I was a kid, but that's the only one. I wanted the set. Either they were extremely expensive, or they were badly damaged. One day, Rob and I were out antiquing and found a set at a good price and we snapped them up, quick. Then, another time, we found the refrigerator set at a good price and it came home to join the set. This is the only refrigerator set I've ever seen where the large dish is green. The mixer was picked up at a shop on one of my trips back to LA to see my folks and works perfectly. I occassionally use it when I'm mixing something that's not too thick and heavy.

Rob cut me a set of wood circles that sit in the bottoms of the nesting bowls and make them sit higher so they display well. Otherwise, the smaller bowls sit inside the larger one and all disappear.

This is the first time I've ever displayed them all together. They've moved all over the kitchen, looking for the perfect place, but always on opposite sides of the room. When I reorganized the other day, I cleared a place for them and now they have a home, all together, and make quite a statement about days past.

Y'all have a great Thursday. Hi-ho, it's off to work I go. Take care. Lane

I love those colored bowls. Occassionally, I will see one but usually too expensive for me. Love the mixer too! Lisa

This is a wonderful collection, and displayed so wonderfully so you can enjoy them. Rob is so smart...that is a great idea. I love the colors, and would like a set myself..but I always see them very pricey at the flea markets. Don't forget to link in today...if you have not already done so!! Loved this post and your cuteness in the kitchen....Have a great VTT! and a great weekend.

That is a great set of bowls. I like the colours. I don't think I have ever seen them before so they were probably just in the USA

Your bowl display is very colorful. I love nesting Pyrex, but prefer lightweight unbreakable mixing bowls for use.

I love those bowls. My mom had a yellow one and it is passed down to my daughter. Mom mixed her zwieback dough in it every Saturday. Such good memories. They look great on your shelf!

Oh, I like this -- and I really like the refrigerator set. I bought a set of Pyrex mixing bowls in 1975 when I set up my first apartment -- they were 4 bowls, two white and two turquoise, with a floral border.

I had no idea they had gotten "collectible" until I gave them to my daughter this year to take to her grad school apartment ... and friends of mine said, "Are you NUTS?"

Oops. I like the bright ones you have, better!

Lovely sets.
