When did Tupperware become an antique???

And, more importantly, does that make me old?

We went on another little antiquing jaunt yesterday. I think Rob is a little worried about me and wanted to get me out of the house and knew a road trip would do the trick. We went to Llano, TX and did a little shopping. We couldn't really find anything we were interested in. There were a few quilting magazines from the 70's, but I left them there. I ended up with a new baked bean pot and some Tupperware. I've been picking up lots of that stuff on our trips; canister set, bowls, and this time an orange lunchbox. My Mom sold T-ware when I was in high school and of course, we had everything. And, I ended up with a lot of stuff that's very practical and I like adding to it in the yellow, orange and green from the 70's.
We also played a game where each of us had $5 and we needed to buy everything we'd need to set our place at the supper table; flatware, plate, glass. It was a blast. And, we'll donate it to goodwill after we clean it up and use it a time or two. Or, maybe we'll keep it and add things like a bowl and cup/saucer on our next trip. None of it matches and I think it's a fun way to take these lost things and bring them home for a little fun. They certainly seem to need a little love. And, I don't think any of us spent more than $1.25 on our stuff yesterday.

Saw lots of beautiful things, but for the most part, Llano has gotten too expensive for us. We prefer the truly small towns. But, we had the most fantastic lunch at Laird's Pit BBQ. It was real old fashioned BBQ in a little dive with benches and hand made tables. Sydney and I had the chicken plate and Rob the brisket and it came with beans, white bread, and the best potatoe salad I think I've ever had.

Sydney got this pic of us in Llano.

And, here is the Llano river that we were looking out on.

On the way back home, we did a little sight-seeing.

This is from a scenic outlook in Longhorn Cavern State Park. No, Texas is not all desert. This is out in the hill country west of town.

And, this is lake Lyndon B. Johnson, which is part of the Highland Lakes chain that was created by building dams and flooding valleys. It stopped the central Texas flooding problem and gave us some fantastic lakes and while most of them are very low or dry right now, this one still looks full.

Thanks to all of you that missed me. It's been a rough couple of weeks of working to hard. And, I'm having my own troubles with memories that won't stay buried because of the connections I've made, and those that I haven't made, from Facebook. It's hard to remember all I left behind...friends, family, and home...to become the person I am. And, I was one of the lucky ones. I've found out about so many suicides; guys my age that were either gay or effiminate. Lives lost at the beginning because of prejudice. So sad. Thank goodness I was strong. Thanks for being there and Thanks for caring. Hope you're having a great weekend.
I've been quilting my poor machine to the bone. I'm about 70% done with the apple themed quilt and took a little time off last night and this morning for some piecing. Now, chores are done and I'm trying to decide what to tackle next for some fun. I'm thinking I'll piece a house block. See ya'. Lane

I'm glad you were strong too, Lane, otherwise I would have missed a very important "virtual" friendship!! I'm thinking that "virtual" certainly does NOT mean "pretend". There must be a better word......wait! I got it! Cyber-friend!!!!!

I was wondering where you were too! I'm so glad you're okay. What beautiful scenery Texas has. Your $5 game sounds like fun. Tupperware is hard to come by these days. I was trying to find a vegetable keeper and those suckers are hard to find AND expensive if you do find one! I still have my huge containers I keep 10blbs each of sugar and flour in. I saw you on Facebook. I don't know how you came up as a possible friend for me to hook up with. I'm only on there to spy on my daughter *LOL* and to play the free games.

Hi Lane, Glad to see you back. Out of curiosity, I signed up for facebook this summer. It was so weird to see suggestions of names of people I might want to "friend". Some of them would not have been my friends at all in high school, and I was amazed at the feelings that got stirred up. I got a request to be a friend from someone I barely knew back then, but I didn't want to decline because I didn't want to hurt his feelings. Spent way too much time wondering how to handle that. Who needs it?
Blogging is much more fun, and I'm glad you're back to it.
