Ready to bind

I think I've been working on this quilt for about 4 months.  You can see why.

I've already played one round of the game "if you can find it, you can fix it".  I picked out this whole section of echo and re-marked it and did it again.  And, there were some broken threads I fixed and other small things that stood out as I've gone over the quilt.  There are still a ton of things wrong, and if I can find them, I will fix them.  But, the beauty of that much quilting is that you can't really see the mistakes.  It's based on the theory that if you can see the mistakes, there's not enough quilting.  I've long held that belief.

Unfortunately, these blocks, cute as they are, were flawed.  And, I knew that when I finished them.  And, that was most of the reason I decided to put this much quilting in...well, and because it's a challenge.

And, I do love a challenge.  The quilting almost completely hides the pre-printed quilting lines that were marked on the blocks, and I'm afraid they've become permanent because of ironing and time.  And, I couldn't use them as a quilting guide because the blocks themselves had become distorted and the quilting lines didn't end up in the same places relative to one another after squaring.

And, quilting like this keeps me busy and distracted.  And, that's always good.  That's why I keep multiple projects going at a time.  I always have something distracting to pull out and play with.

Everybody have a great day!  Tomorrow is Friday and I am looking forward to it.  Who knows, maybe the leader of the US can get through today without offending anybody.

I crack me up.

Lane

You crack me up too!
Love the quilting. Some believe you leave the mistakes in your quilt as a reminder life is never perfect. Thanks for sharing. Mary

Can there ever be too much quilting on a piece? This looks amazing to me...beautiful straight, even lines. I'm hopeless with the even part.

Absolutely beautiful quilt, Lane. Yes, you crack me up too. First thing I heard when I got up this morning was how he'd had a phone fight with the Prime Minister of Australia. Australia, for crying out loud! And now at the National Prayer Breakfast, he asked for prayers that ratings improve for The Apprentice! Good Grief!

Wow, amazing job, Lane! Congratulations!! And I love that idea, "if you can see the mistakes, there's not enough quilting." I think I'm going to borrow that motto.

Your quilt is stunning!! I so need to practice to improve my skills if I ever want to produce quilts as lovely as yours. I freeze thinking I'll only ruin anything that I work on. This year needs to be the year as my closet is full of tops. How sad.

Beautiful quilting! Well worth the time investment. And you would crack me up, too, but I'm too scared to laugh.

from what we can see it is beautiful. You are an artist. I do what I call mundane sewing, so looking at your beautiful pictures is like visiting Venice for me. Thank you.

Sensational quilting, Lane. I've been following your work on this quilt and am in awe because I know that I wouldn't have been prepared to invest so much time and effort into it.

As for your President - no, I don't think it's possible for him to get through an hour, let alone a whole day, without offending someone. Indeed, I suspect that he prides himself on his willingness to be so confronting and offensive. As Barb H said above, he apparently spat his dummy during a phone call with our Prime Minister and hung up on him! Stylish indeed. Someone just need to tap him on the shoulder and quietly whisper 'Pine Gap' in his ear; that may cause him to be a little more polite in dealing with an ally of long standing. LOL
