I'm reminded of a poem;
First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out -
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out -
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out -
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me - and there was no one left to speak for me.
--Martin Niemoller
I've always wanted to ask a racist what happens when the mob decides you're not white enough? Or your children? Or your grandchildren?
The one thing they can't say is "it will never happen" because history has shown us, it will. It always does.

Exactly!!! I have never understood all those people fighting about which denomination of religion you are. All those religions worship the same god just different forms, and names. But we have had many wars and many massacres based on religion. And going to church is what cured me of going to church.
AMEN!!!
Thank you for this post.
Lane that poem just sums up how I feel at the moment , such troubled times we live in, I can only pray to the god I know to help us heal.
Great post!
The rest of the world is as horrified as you are. Thebiggest thing we can do is teach the next generation the importance of voting. Then, do what you've done and show our opposition in a visible way, to let people know there are a lot of us in this together. Kia kaha, Lane, rom Aotearoa New Zealand.
Oh sorry just realised my final sentence wasn't as helpful as I intended. Kia kaha means be strong. So I meant Stand Strong, Lane, from Aotearoa New Zealand.
