Someone else’s quilt

Today, I’m featuring someone else’s work.  Sorry about the picture, but all I had was my iphone and a second before a meeting.

Just like I have a mentor, I am a mentor.  My friend D., a new quilter, brought this quilt to the office the other day for me to see.  She thinks it looks like confetti.  She thinks it’s too bright.

I disagree.  I think it’s perfect for snuggling under on a cold, gray day.  Just the colors make me think sunny, hot days in the garden.

What say you, blog followers?  Too bright?  Or, just right for a winter throw?

I’m starting a couple of Christmas table runners and cut out trees this morning.  Somehow, I managed to cut too many…where is my head sometimes?  But, it’s okay…what doesn’t fit the front will go on the back.  I’m using up the last of the fabrics from this year’s holiday quilt, and believe me, it’s just scraps that I’m creatively cutting, trying to get just a little bit more out of them instead of sending them to the dog bed bag.

Okay, I don’t really have a dog bed bag anymore.  I used to.  And, I never made a dog bed and our dogs would be offended to have to sleep anywhere but our beds, so I gave that bag of threads a good toss.

Everybody have a great Tuesday.  I wish I could stay home and sew all day.  It’s that kind of a cold gray day here.  But, the weather will turn by week’s end and we’re back to beautiful sunny days.  Maybe some time in the garden this weekend, cutting back.  I wish, I wish, I wish, I wish for a sunny day.

Hug somebody.  Lane

I think this quilt is perfect for gray days AND summer days...it's just a happy quilt! Give her a thumbs up from me! (Like she would care!! hahahaha)

Have a good week. We woke up to ice and a dusting of snow on the porch. Starting winter off too early!
We had four inches of snow on Thanksgiving.

Love you,
Becky

Such a happy quilt.....she should name it something "citrus-y" or fruit salad-y.
Had to laugh at your wish for a sunny day.....here in California it just started to rain and we hope it keeps up all week!
BTW, your tree skirt is too pretty to be hidden.....put a big star or something in the middle and hang it on the wall.
Best wishes,
Dee

I love it. Colors are just so seasonal in nature. Tell her to bring it out after the holidays and bask in the compliments. If she can't warm to it, I'll be happy to provide my mailing address. Lol! It is really pretty.

Too bright? No such thing! This quilt...now named Confetti in my mind...is beautiful and fun and will bring many a smile in the years ahead.

D's quilt is so cheery. Too many quilters question their color choices: go with what makes YOU happy.

Confetti, what a perfect name for this quilt-- this is a very happy-looking quilt. It would be perfect for a child or baby, too, because of the bright colors. I really like this one, so tell your friend, your blog ladies love it.

I've cut too few, but rarely too many. Maybe if we cut fabric together, we'd both be perfect?

Tell D her quilt is fantastic. I would love to have a coverlet like that. If you make too many table runners, send one down here. I'll even get you more scraps to make more. Weather here is just like yours. Give our love to family. Take care. lum

Oh I love it! D's quilt is perfect and happy and bright and just right for brightening up someone's day after a string of gray wintery days. I normally stick close to civil war repo fabrics in my quilts but come February or March I always find myself churning out a quilt made from bright happy colors just like D did. Tell her she done good!!!!!!!!

Thank you too for your blog. I love reading it and following all your quilting and parenting activities. Both of my boys are away at college now. Take Care.
