quilt kits to commemorate events

People collect spoons and bells and s/p shakers to commemorate events in their lives. Me, I assemble quilt kits.

This kit commemorates my first self-designed quilt shop hop in Cleveland, OH.

And, this set of civil war repros are from my first trip to Minneapolis and St Cloud, MN.

These are from last years Austin area quilt guild show.

And, these, except for the blue, that is still in the audition phase and is from my stash came from the Georgetown quilt show on Saturday.

We had a lot of fun and laughed a lot and ate. Then, I came home and bottled beer for the rest of the afternoon. Enough beer to last all summer.

Sunday morning, up early and I pin basted the orange Linus quilt and spent most of the rest of the day quilting it.

And, that's how our weekend played out.

Now, if you want 15ish minutes of my family at the quilt show, doing what we do best; being a family. Catch the long conversation that Sydney had with the white glove lady. The sound isn't great, but she ended by telling the lady that she might get her quilt quilted by a "world famous quilter" and when the lady asked who, Sydney pointed at me. And, the lady darted toward me, before Rob could stop her and explain that I am not famous...well, I guess I am in one person's eyes.

Take care. Lane

I think that is the highest compliment Sydney could pay you. Little girls need their dads to be larger than life; able to keep them safe and secure. Well done.

The quilting on the Linus quilt is beautiful and the quilt itself is really pretty too. Someone will be very lucky to receive it.

Love your quilt kits.

How sweet! Sounds like you're a pretty neat Dad! And the price is right-I know because I quilt my Mom's!

What a lovely thing for Sydney to say. It shows she thinks a lot of your ability because compliments from teens are rare as hens teeth!Enjoy it.

Oh, how sweet! You are famous to her and us Lane!!! That is just great. I bet that lady did not know what to say, she could have said something a little more polite than what she did say! Way to go Syd!

I love the fabrics in the civil war quilt! And the little orange quilt looks much better after quilting than it did before, the dimension really helps. Sydney was probably seeing the future, when you're not just famous here, but world famous.

I watched the video and was smiling every time Sydney rolled her eyes! Such a teenage move.

I loved the quilt with the applique flowers. It had a lot of purple in it. I think it was mostly batik. It is really beautiful. I also like the bunny quilt that was done in redwork. Looks like you all had a great time!

Your Linus quilt is really nice! I am going to be quilting a kids quilt today. Not sure if it will go to Linus or Quilt for Kids. I have been having fun with it.
