Picking a border

Well, this is how we pick a border around our house. First, we lay everything out in the living room floor and we audition a ton of fabrics that won't work...see discard pile below.

After we narrow it down to just a few, we lay them out and everybody looks and votes.

And, then I sleep on it and make the final decision. In this case, it was black, tan or green. I dreamed last night that I used the green and I didn't like it. So, it was the tan.

Take care and have a great Saturday. Lane

Hi Lane,
That is sort of how I pick a border too- I pull out a bunch of fabrics and audition them all- the winner is the one that lasts the longest in the pile LOL.
Happy quilting-
Regards,
Anna

I do like the tan, as well. Your method reminds me of my own. I get people's opinion and then go with what I want. Of course, their opinions/reasons are a factor. I've also found that taking a photo of the options and looking at it on my computer screen, instead of directly at the quilt helps a lot, too.

Agree with JoAnne, I always look at stuff on my computer screen when I'm choosing fabric. I also do that before sewing my quilt tops together because for some reason I'll always see glaring errors if it's in a picture on my screen.

Tan wins hands down for me too Lane.

I'm too indecisive - that method doesn't work for me. Usually it's whatever piece is big enough that I pick up first.

Funny how real life creeps into our dreams. Whatever you chose would have been terrific, but you have to go with your gut. That quilt is really gorgeous. Can't wait to see it quilted.
