A finish on Block 2

I completed block 2 of Simply Delicious this morning. It's hard to call it complete, tho because of that leaf on the far right that hangs into another block. It's not really finished until that's sewn down, right? But, it's as finished as it can be.

Loving this quilt. Loving applique. Loving the amount of patience it takes. Applique won't be the only kind of quilting I do, but it is a nice something different. And, in doing hand applique, I have to believe that my machine applique will get better.

The next block is the lemons. I plan to show my process from start to finish making that one; including the two pattern tracings and how I'm marking my applique for needle turn.

While my mind was on lemons this morning, I went out and got some snaps of the lemon tree in bloom. These are such fragrant blossoms and while it's still too early for most of the bees, I do see a bee around it most of the time. I can only hope they are doing their job as nicely as the tree is doing its job to ensure that we get a good crop next December.

While I was out there, I noticed that the orange tree blossoms are also starting to open.

And, there are plenty more to open soon.

And, finally, on the way back to the sewing room to download those pictures, I passed the very "springy" dining table and couldn't resist a picture of it (before it gets piled with mail and homework and eraser shavings).

So, that's what's going on with me right now. I pulled out a UFO this morning to look at. It's pieced and waiting for quilting. I want to do some of the tight, fancy quilting on it and I've been inspired by an article in Quilter's World from December, I think (I'm behind in reading my magazines). Anyway, they showed some beautiful quilting in the pictures for that article and I'm ready to try some more of that.
Take care and have a great Tuesday. Lane
